OUR RULES
Consequences if rules are broken:
First time - warning PM from an administrator Second time - 1 day suspension Third time - 5 day suspension Fourth or above- Immediate ban, no exceptions
OUT OF CHARACTER
No spamming in any of the boards except the 'Advertising' board. This includes the c-box. Any post with advertising in it will be deleted immediately.
Reason Why: Spamming bothers people and can ruin the entire thread.
No OOC posts in IC threads. A few 'OCC: FLARGH...' comments won't hurt, but limit them. No purely OCC posts in a thread(other than the OCC board). The post will be deleted immediately.
Reason Why: Anyone reading your thread doesn't want to see an entire paragraph worth of OOC's.
And also if it's not even your thread to begin with, that's highly annoying.
Accounts are allowed one character per account. You are allowed multiple characters(as many as you'd like as long as you are active with them all). Only 2 Canon charcaters per person.
Applications for characters must be completely filled out and accepted by an administrator or other appointed person before you post anywhere, (excluding OCC boards or c-box)
Reason why: We have to make sure that this character is not going to be forgotten. Also, we have to make sure that you role play at least well enough not to annoy people.
Signatures cannot stretch the page. I REPEAT: SIGNATURES CANNOT STRETCH THE PAGE!If you have one that does, a PM will be sent asking you to remove it. Upon receiving this, if you do not remove the signature or resize it, an administrator will do so for you and you will receive a warning, or suspension.
Reason Why: No one wants to scroll left and right to see what someone says, it's beastly. Not to mention, it makes our hard, thought out posts look like small nothings. Please, follow this rule.
Display names must be your character's first and last name. When you sign up, it can be whatever you want, but as soon as you submit your application, please change it to your character's name.
Reason why: Who wants to RP with someone who's first and last name they do not know. If you had to RP with someone's who's name was 'x0~starsjipenterprise~ox' would you be happy? I think not.
If you create a character who is not part of the Sohma family, be realistic to the story line, and act as if you do not know anything about the Sohma family secret or curse. (The only exception is if you create Tohru)
Reason why: If every person on the site knows the Sohma secret, it won't be fun or interesting for those attempting to build a thread off of that, and it will completely diverge from the story plot.
God modding is NOT allowed. You have control over your characters, none others. The exception to this rule is if that person gives you permission.
Example of god-modding If Becky posted this:
"Becky smacked Molly, calling her a bad name, and watched as Molly sunk to the ground sobbing."
And Molly hadn't posted that she was sobbing, nor that she sunk to the ground previously.
Reason why: You have no idea what the person you're RP-ing wanted to say in response to that, so don't ruin it for them.
Spell check is there for a reason.
Reason why: It makes life so much easier, to not have to decipher between words. Yes, we all know that sometimes Spell Check even deviates from its usefulness, but please people, just hit the button.
Chat speak is NOT allowed anywhere. Chatspeak isn't helping anyone you're RP-ing with, in fact it only makes things worse. I'm pretty sure you won't have a hard time typing out a few more letter. And if you will, you don't need to join us.
Examples of Chat Speak: "Frank, I owe u, my life 4 helping me out that one day. Plz, take this check 4 a zillion dollars"
Reason Why: It's annoying, don't do it.
Sex, violence, cursing, and drug use IS allowed, but please place a rating in the subject, such as [M] for mature. Or ask for a password protected thread. We'll happily comply.
Reason Why: Not everyone enjoys reading your sin posts, or about drug-related things or death. So please respect that and do as we say. This rule will be enforced, and NOT taken lightly.
ALL posts must be made in third person, past tense, unless asked otherwise.
Reason Why: Just because it's easier to read.
Try to make posts at least two paragraphs long. Every once in a while, a short post isn't a big deal. Everyone gets writer's block.. But if it gets way too common, you'll receive a warning PM.
Things to think about:
Think about things going on around your character What is your character wearing How does she/he feel? Thinking about your five senses can be useful-but don't write in short, choppy sentences like so: She heard a bird. She smelled trash. She saw a dog.
Reason Why: It creates nothing for the person who has to respond to that. it also, MURDERS threads.
Nobody's perfect, not even your character. When you fill out your application, he/she needs a few flaws.Hell, if everyone were perfect, the world would be free of war, and ozone pollution, and fighting, and murder...etc. But it's not, so get some flaws.
If a drastic plot is going to take place, you must PM an administrator.
Reason why: I can't think of a good reason, but it is a good rule.
As rules are needed, this rule board will be updated, we will let you know when there is a necessity to read the rules board.
